FAQ & Help

Everything you need to know about grAAAAde.com

Getting Started

grAAAAde.com is an AI-powered study assistant that gives you cited answers from YOUR course materials. Upload your PDFs, slides, and notes, then ask any question. Every answer includes Vancouver-style citations pointing back to your actual source documents — so you can verify, learn, and cite with confidence.

It takes about 60 seconds:

  1. Sign up with your name, email, and a password
  2. Create a class (e.g., "BIO 101" or "Intro to Marketing")
  3. Upload your materials — drag and drop your PDFs, slides, or images
  4. Start asking questions — type a question or upload a photo of a problem

grAAAAde supports a wide range of study materials:

  • PDFs — textbook chapters, lecture notes, journal articles
  • PowerPoint slides (.pptx) — lecture presentations
  • Word documents (.docx) — essays, notes, study guides
  • Images (.png, .jpg, .jpeg) — photos of handwritten notes, textbook pages, whiteboard content

Yes — each file can be up to 25 MB. This is more than enough for most textbook chapters, lecture slides, and scanned notes. If you have a very large file, try splitting it into sections.

You can upload up to 20 files per class. Create separate classes for different courses to keep your materials organized and get the most relevant answers.

Using the App

You have several options:

  • Type your question in the question box
  • Upload a photo of a problem (e.g., snap a picture of a homework question)
  • Combine both — type context and attach an image for the best results

Make sure you have the right class selected so the AI searches through the correct materials.

Vancouver-style citations use numbered references — [1], [2], [3], etc. — that point to specific passages in YOUR uploaded documents. This means every claim in your answer can be traced back to a real source you provided, making it easy to verify information and use it in your own work with proper attribution.

Yes. Create a separate class for each course — e.g., "BIO 101," "ECON 200," "History of Art." Your materials stay organized by class, and the AI only searches through the materials for the class you have selected. This keeps your answers relevant and your citations accurate.

The Writing Coach is a guided tool that helps you build a paper step by step through Socratic questioning. Instead of writing your paper for you, it:

  • Helps you refine your thesis by asking targeted questions
  • Surfaces evidence from your uploaded materials to support your argument
  • Guides you in structuring your arguments logically
  • Delivers a cited outline you can expand into a full paper

It teaches you to think critically about your topic rather than just giving you an answer.

Troubleshooting

A few things to check:

  • Right class selected? Make sure you have the correct class active — the AI only searches materials for the selected class
  • Materials uploaded? Verify your files appear in the class file list and have finished processing
  • Relevant content? The AI can only cite what is in your uploaded materials. If the topic is not covered in your files, it cannot generate citations for it

Try these steps in order:

  1. Refresh the page (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R)
  2. Clear your browser cache and reload
  3. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
  4. Check your internet connection
